Saint Expedite's Rosary of Flame
Saint Expedite, the patron Saint of urgent matters -- he who marched across continents and conquered with his Thundering Legions; he to whom this rosary is dedicated.
Made from Carnelian and featuring Green Jasper as decade beads, this rosary embodies the fiery attributes of our beloved Expedite. The gems shine as drops of amber fallen from a great conifer, as flames amidst darkness. Hanging from this chain of prayers is an enchanted medal of Saint Expedite, onto the back of which appears a guardian angel. Each rosary was made by hand using Silver components, sat at Expedite's altar in my home. Each rosary was prayed over and presented to Expedite so that he may confer his blessings onto it.
Both stones composing this rosary are types of Chalcedony, a stone of strength. Carnelian, or Sardine, as our Medieval forebears would have known it, is known as a stone of Mars, for its inclusion of Iron, which grants it its fiery hues. This stone was well-known for its ability to stop blood and hasten healing. Set into gold, it destroyed nightmares and made one courageous, driven, and willful. The Peterborough lapidary mentions that they who wear it upon their finger should never fear harm caused by the stone Onyx, which carries Saturnine connotations of weight and restriction. The reddest Sardine could protect one against enchantments and witchcraft.
It goes without saying that this stone, revealed to me before I even learned of its virtues, has a strong affinity with the mysteries and nature of Saint Expedite. Like Expedite, it defeats procrastination. Like Expedite, it brings courage, strength, and drive. Like Expedite, it is a child of Mars and of Aries. It is a stone of forward force, ideal to represent the virtues Expedite wishes to see in us. It is also said by Christian mystics that this stone represents the blood of the Martyrs.
